K2 hybrid lunch seminar – PT on-demand and transport justice

Welcome to K2's hybrid lunch seminar on public transport on-demand and its impact on transport justice!

We're excited to host Professor Subhrajit Guhathakurta from Georgia Tech, who will join K2 in Lund to share insights from pilot testing an on-demand system in four diverse neighborhoods in Atlanta, USA. The system combines fixed bus and rail routes between transport hubs with on-demand shuttles catering to the first and last miles to and from the hubs. What potential does this system hold for fostering transport equity and equality?

In addition, Jan Persson from Malmö University/K2 will provide an update on the latest findings from K2’s Policy lab for public transport on-demand.

Date and time: Monday, June 10 at 12.00-13.00 (followed by a discussion at K2 for those interested)

Location: K2 office at Bruksgatan 8, Lund, or join virtually via Microsoft Teams

The seminar is part of the K2 project Kollektivtrafik on-demand och dess roll för en hållbar mobilitet | K2 (k2centrum.se). The project aims to investigate, compare, and learn from two on-demand solutions tested in different contexts: MARTA Reach in Atlanta and Plusresa in Skåne. The purpose is to explore the role of on-demand public transport in various settings and assess its future potential for sustainable mobility, with a particular focus on equity and transport justice issues.
