Approaching the gap between research and practice

A recent literature review shows a gap between the research and practice when it comes to finding out methods to measure social sustainability in terms of sustainable accessibility for diverse groups.

The purpose of this project is to organise a couple of workshops to bridge this gap. The aim with the workshops is to share knowledge on social impacts and participatory methods, to deepen the knowledge on how to reach diverse citizen groups, and how to increase the knowledge on sustainable accessibility in community and public transport planning.

The project addresses:

  • Consequences for different groups.
  • Goal conflicts in planning and decision-making.
  • Processes concerning equality and inclusion in planning and decision-making
processes about the transport system, who participates in decisions and which
decisions have an impact in practice.
  • Knowledge bases and impacts in practice.

The workshops will be inviting researchers and practitioners who come together and share knowledge and experiences. The project addresses the challenges to understand social impacts in transport and community planning. By involving researchers and practitioners from various regions and expert fields, the project will deepen the knowledge and bridge the gap between research and practice. The project will build a platform for further collaborations and propose further knowledge building activities after the project.
